Oct 08, 2024Byiqingdao

Cold Dew is one of the 24 solar terms and usually occurs around October 8 each year when the sun reaches 195 degrees of ecliptic longitude. It marks the transition from heat to cold, with temperatures dropping rapidly, dew increasing, and a chill in the air. This is why it is called Cold Dew.

During the Cold Dew period, people can clearly feel the increasing temperature difference between day and night, along with drier weather. Frequent cold air activities in the north mark the end of the rainy season in most areas. Cold Dew is not only a significant point reflecting climate change but is also associated with many health-preserving practices.

During the Cold Dew period, the significant temperature difference between day and night can easily lead to colds and respiratory illnesses, making it especially important to stay warm. At the same time, having a mild and nourishing diet is advisable, focusing on eating more fruits and vegetables to replenish fluids and boost the immune system. Additionally, moderate exercise and sufficient sleep are also essential.

During the Cold Dew period, massaging the Yingxiang point and the Zusanli point can help prevent colds and boost children's immunity. These acupressure techniques are simple to learn, and parents can easily perform them at home to assist their children in smoothly transitioning through the seasonal change.
