International Workers' Day, also known as Labor Day, is a national holiday in more than 80 countries around the world. It is celebrated on May 1st every year and is a holiday shared by working people worldwide.
Countries around the world generally hold corresponding celebrations. However, not all countries designate May 1st as Labor Day, and those countries that celebrate May 1st also have very different ways of celebrating and customs.
Since establishing International Workers' Day in Russia, this country has always attached importance to this special holiday. On May Day, the whole of Russia is closed for vacation, and various celebrations and mass parades are held.
European countries such as the United Kingdom and France have designated May 1st as Labor Day. Many countries have a one-day holiday, while others place the public holiday on the first Monday of May, depending on the circumstances.
In Peru, Labor Day is officially recognized on May 1st, with the entire country observing a one-day holiday.
In Japan, Labor Day falls during the "Golden Week." Japan has numerous holidays, with many occurring around May 1st. When these holidays are combined, Japanese people typically enjoy at least one week of rest, with the longest stretch reaching up to 11 days.
In Thailand, on this day, the entire country observes a unified one-day holiday. In the capital city and some major cities, there may be related celebrations, although the scale is generally not too large.
