Pure Brightness (Qingming) is the 5th of the 24 solar terms, which is a traditional Chinese festival and a day for ancestor worship and tomb sweeping.
The customs of Pure Brightness are rich and interesting. In addition to tomb sweeping, there are also a series of customs and sports activities such as spring outing, swinging, Cuju, and planting willow trees. This festival is characterized by both the sorrowful tears of sweeping graves and the laughter of outing and playing. It is a unique festival.
Swinging on a Swing
Swing’s history is very ancient, originally called Qianqiu. Playing swings not only enhances health, but also cultivates a spirit of bravery, which is still loved by people, especially children.
Cuju
Ju is a type of leather ball, with a leather skin and stuffed with fur inside. Cuju is playing this ball with your feet. This is a game that people loved during the ancient Qingming Festival.
Spring Outing
Spring returns to the earth, and nature presents a vibrant scene everywhere, making it a great time for outings. The Chinese people have long maintained the habit of spring outings during the Qingming Festival.
