On the afternoon of June 27, the Forum on International Cooperation of Young Ocean Scientists was held in Qingdao West Coast New Area. With the theme of “Towards a Sustainable Ocean in the Context of Climate Change”, this forum aims to promote the exchange and cooperation among international young scientists and enhance the public’s understanding of the vision of the UN Ocean Decade and the frontier science of the ocean.
As part of the 2023 East Asia Marine Cooperation Platform Qingdao Forum, the Forum on International Cooperation of Young Ocean Scientists was held in Qingdao West Coast New Area on the afternoon of June 27. With the theme of “Towards a Sustainable Ocean in the Context of Climate Change”, nine young scientists from China, UK, Korea, Thailand and other countries made presentations on their experiences in leading or participating in the UN Ocean Decade.
In the panel discussion session, the participating scientists agreed that a sound liaison mechanism for young scientists should be established as soon as possible to promote cross-institutional, cross-field, cross-professional and cross-border exchanges and cooperation among young ocean scientists, and to strengthen the synergy and cooperation among different programs and projects in an effort to realize the vision of the United Nations Ocean Decade.
