On May 10-13, Pacific island countries were invited to visit Qingdao to explore multilateral cooperation in areas such as deep-sea fisheries and marine talent cultivation. Zhao Haozhi, Deputy Secretary of the Qingdao Municipal Party Committee and Mayor, Yu Zhigang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Ocean University of China, Li Hucheng, Secretary General of the Qingdao Municipal Government, and relevant department heads attended the meeting.
In recent years, Qingdao and Pacific island countries have conducted many friendly exchanges and practical cooperation in areas such as local exchanges, economic and trade cooperation, health care, education and training. The Pacific island countries were invited to visit Qingdao this time, ushering in new opportunities for deepening cooperation in the field of marine fisheries between the two sides. As an important partner along the "21st Century Maritime Silk Road", the Pacific island countries have unique geographical advantages and marine fishery resources. Currently, Qingdao is actively promoting the development of marine fisheries towards deep and distant seas, relying on its advantages in seawater seed industry and marine equipment manufacturing. Deepening cooperation in marine fisheries, Qingdao and Pacific island countries are becoming increasingly close.
In recent years, Qingdao and Pacific island countries have also continued to deepen their cooperation in marine science and technology education. During their visit in Qingdao, the delegation went to Ocean University of China to carry out marine cultural exchange activities and signed the "Cooperation Framework Agreement between Solomon Islands National University and Ocean University of China", opening up new opportunities for academic exchange and cooperation between Qingdao and Pacific island countries.
Currently, Qingdao is deeply implementing the important instructions and requirements of President Xi to Shandong and Qingdao's marine work, focusing on the urban vision of "a vibrant ocean city and a livable and lovable city", and building a leading modern marine city at a high level.
