Qingdao International Sister City Adds New Member

On April 28, the Unveiling Ceremony of the China-Pacific Island Countries Climate Action Cooperation Center and the Opening Ceremony of the China-Pacific Island Countries High-level Dialogue on Climate Action hosted by Shandong Provincial Government was held.

With the signing of the Sister City Agreement, Qingdao and Tainainano became the first pair of sister city between China and Kiribati, and Tainainano is also the first sister city concluded by Qingdao in the Pacific Island region.

The number of Qingdao International Sister Cities has been extended to 84 cities in 46 countries. Under the framework of Sister City, the city will deepen the exchange and cooperation with Tanainano in the fields of economy, trade, culture and city management, especially strengthen the practical cooperation in the marine field, help build a "Vibrant Ocean City", and contribute to the building of China-Pacific island destiny community.

Kiribati is an island nation in the central Pacific Ocean, rich in marine fishery resources, with an exclusive economic zone of 3.5 million square kilometers. The city of Tainainano is located in the core area of the capital city of Kiribati, and is the most populous administrative region of Kiribati, as well as the seat of the Kiribati Parliament, the Office of the President, government agencies, educational and medical facilities, and agencies of foreign governments and international organizations in Kiribati.
