The mutual respect and support for development between China and South Korea (ROK) have not only brought important benefits to the two countries but also provided stability to the peace, development and prosperity of the region, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Tuesday in Qingdao, east China's Shandong Province.
He made the remarks when meeting with visiting South Korean Foreign Minister Park Jin.
Noting that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and the ROK, Wang said that the two countries are neighbors with common security and partners in mutual need.
When talking about the healthy and stable development of partnership over the next 30 years, Wang came up with a five-point proposal.
The two sides should adhere to independence and freedom from external interference; should adhere to good-neighborliness and friendship, and take care of each other's major concerns; should adhere to openness and win-win cooperation, and maintain stable and smooth production and supply chains; should adhere to equality and respect and non-interference in each other's internal affairs; and should adhere to multilateralism and abide by the purpose and principle of the UN Charter, he said.
The Chinese side is willing to work with the ROK side to adhere to the positioning of the strategic partnership of cooperation determined by the two sides and promote the stable development of China-ROK relations, Wang said.
For his part, Park said that on the basis of the South Korea-China strategic cooperative partnership, mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit, enhancement of mutual trust and inclusive cooperation will make the bilateral relations more mature and healthy.
