China's first independently developed ski-waxing truck will serve as an important device in providing waxing and storage solutions for athletes during the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
The truck was developed by enterprises and institutes in Shandong province, including the China National Heavy Duty Truck Group, or Sinotruk, the Shandong Industrial Design Institute, and the Taishan Sports Industry Group. The design, development and construction of the truck took 11 months.
Since its debut on Oct 27, 2021, the ski-wax truck has helped with the training of national cross-country ski teams in Hebei province, Shanghai, Beijing, and Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, and received praise from athletes and waxers.
The truck has an area of 92.5 square meters and consists of a main vehicle, an auxiliary vehicle, and a spare traction locomotive. In addition to waxing, the truck also serves as a place for athletes to rest, relax and receive treatment during the competition.
The truck, which is designed based on Sinotruk's latest achievement, boasts the world's lowest wind drag for trucks of the same class. It is also ranked high globally in terms of reliability, fuel efficiency, comfort, and handling.
