June 8 is World Oceans Day (WOD) and China's National Maritime Day.
Oceans cover 71 percent of our planet and are home to more than half of the species living on Earth. Over three billion people depend on marine and coastal biodiversity for their livelihoods.
Oceans are essential to human beings because they provide us oxygen, food and clean water. They also help to regulate the climate and brings us endless inspiration. World Oceans Day reminds us just how important a sustainable ocean is for all lives on Earth.
The theme for World Oceans Day in2022 is “Revitalization: Collective Action for the Ocean.” The focus of this year's theme is on the ocean's role in sustaining life and livelihood. Plastic garbage being dumped into the oceans is becoming a matter of great concern as it is damaging the life there and putting the ocean's inhabitants at risk
So today let’s work together to protect the ocean and leave a clean marine environment to the world's future generations.
