In March 2022, the General Office of the CPC Qingdao Municipal Committee and the General Office of Qingdao Municipal People's Government issued the Plan for the Three-Year Campaign of Urban Renewal and Urban Construction in Qingdao.

Based on the overall deployment of "prioritizing planning in the first year, getting off to a quick start in the second year, seeing solid progress in the third year and making great changes in the fifth year", the plan aims to improve the urban functions and quality, carry forward the city's historical and cultural heritage, and focus on the construction of infrastructure urgently needed by citizens. It has proposed to seek breakthroughs on eight fronts including the construction of municipal facilities, transportation infrastructure, subway, and the development and construction along the subway.
This year marks Qingdao's first year of carrying out the three-year campaign of urban renewal and urban construction. Leveraging the opportunity of urban renewal in the new era, Qingdao is striving forward and has achieved fruitful results in weaving a comprehensive well-connected transportation network.
