End of heat, or chushu in Chinese, is the 14th solar term on the Chinese lunar calendar, which falls on August 23 this year.
Putting an end to the hot summer, it heralds in autumn. In most parts of China, the hot rainy season is about to come to an end. The temperature begins to drop, and cooler weather will come.
End of heat is also the busy harvest season. Ancestor worship and floating river lantern are traditional folk activities.
Summer is going away while autumn is around the corner. It’s a good time to go out with friends or family to enjoy the scenery and see the clouds flowering.
