After a two-year absence from sailing enthusiasts, the City Clubs Open Regatta International 2021 (CCOR) will kick off at the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center from April 29th to May 3rd, 2021, as promised.
CCOR, founded in 2010, is a sailing event in which sailing clubs compete, usually held from the end of April to the beginning of May every year. It is a major sailing event created by Qingdao and the Chinese Yachting Association, and is one of the three major self-created sailing events recognized by ISAF earlier in China.
In 2020, CCOR was postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. At the beginning of the New Year 2021, the organizing committee restarted the preparation of the event.
Passionate Sailing to Help Build a Fashionable City
As the first major sailing event in Qingdao in 2021, and coinciding with the May Day holiday, sailing enthusiasts will have a wonderful memory of sailing in Qingdao in 2021. At that time, the sails of Fushan Bay will be sailed with passion. There will be professional live performances by the top level flyboard and surferboard athletes in China, which will bring a long-awaited visual feast to Qingdao citizens and visitors from all over the country, and inject continuous vitality to the construction of Qingdao Fashion City.
Strict Epidemic Prevention to Ensure the Safety of the Event
This year, CCOR insisted on putting the safety and health of the participating athletes and staff in the first place, and fully implemented the spirit of the guidelines of the General Administration of Sport of China and Qingdao Municipal People's Government on the prevention and control of epidemics in organizing large-scale competitions, and formulated a detailed epidemic prevention and control plan. Efforts were made through a series of safety precautions to create a safe competition environment for athletes and staff to ensure a smooth and orderly event and a wonderful success.
Advocating Environmental Protection and Pursuing Sustainability
Each year CCOR deepens a theme closely related to the spirit of sailing. This year's event closely follows the theme of "Sustainability". It will initiate a discussion online and display objects offline on Marine Environmental Protection to inspire sailing enthusiasts to rethink the relationship between human beings, technology, sailing and the ocean in the post-epidemic era. Thus, we promote the sustainable development of human existence and the sustainable development of natural ecology.
For the public, Making Sailing More Accessible
In China, sailing has always been considered an noble sport. The price of sailing boats, which can cost hundreds of thousands of yuan, has deterred many ordinary people. As the opening year of the 14th Five-Year Plan and the key year for the construction of a strong sports nation, the organizing committee is committed to promoting the integration of competitive sports, mass sports, sports industry and sports culture in sailing, with the aim of building a solid foundation for the masses. For this reason, the organizing committee insisted on the idea of civilianizing sailing and implementing the national strategy of fitness for all with practical actions.
Inheritance and Innovation to Start a New Decade
As the most prestigious original sailing event in northern China, CCOR has always adhered to "global vision, international standards, distinctive Chinese features, and future-oriented goals" since its inception in 2010, and has always inherited urban genes open, modern, dynamic and fashionable of Qingdao.
In the second decade, CCOR will take the initiative to integrate into "dual circulation" development pattern in which domestic economic cycle plays a leading role while international economic cycle remains its extension and supplement. It will adhere to the spirit of professionalism and innovation on the basis of the brand advantage of Qingdao as the Sailing Capital. It will join hands with various sailing groups and individuals and provide the most fair and innovative platform for sailing enthusiasts who love the sea, yearn for freedom and are brave to challenge. Therefore, we will make progress and grow together with the sailing enthusiasts and build a century-long event with international reputation. (By Fanying)
