Recently, the seminar on the comprehensive development strategy of China's top 100 cities in 2021 was held, and Wharton Economic Research Institute officially released the "list of China's top 100 cities in 2021", in which Qingdao ranked 18.
Since 2015, Wharton Institute of economics has organized and compiled the annual "top 100 cities in China" list for seven consecutive years. The top 110 cities at prefecture level and above in GDP are selected as the annual shortlisted cities in the list. They are ranked according to the comprehensive scores of hard economic index (weight 0.618) and soft economic index (weight 0.382), and the top 100 cities are selected as the annual Top 100 cities.
Hard economic indicators are composed of GDP, savings and finance, while soft economic indicators are composed of environment, science and education, culture and health.
Among the top 20 cities in this list, Jinan and Qingdao, the "twin constellations" of Shandong Province, continue to be the regional central cities.
According to the data of Shandong Provincial Bureau of statistics and National Bureau of statistics, Qingdao's GDP in 2020 reached 1240.056 billion yuan.
